Privy Council upholds RCVS decision to strike off Lisburn vet
20 November 2003
Please note: This is an archived news story. Mr William A. Archbold was removed from the RCVS Register of Members following the hearing and he is therefore not currently entitled to practise as a veterinary surgeon in the UK.
The Privy Council has today upheld an RCVS decision to strike a member off the Register for false certification.
Mr William Archbold of Lisburn was found guilty of two charges of disgraceful conduct in a professional respect by the RCVS Disciplinary Committee in March 2003, but had lodged an appeal against the decision.
Mr Archbold's appeal was considered by the Privy Council this morning but was turned down. The Law Lords indicated that dishonesty was at the higher end of the spectrum of disgraceful conduct.
Following his unsuccessful appeal, Mr Archbold has been removed from the Register with immediate effect and is no longer permitted to practise veterinary surgery.
