'Partnerships in life-long learning' seminar - last few places

One of the key benefits of the innovative new postgraduate modular Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice will be the opportunity for continuing professional development (CPD) providers to work in partnership with universities to deliver modules.

To encourage and develop collaboration between CPD providers and universities, the RCVS is holding a half-day seminar on Thursday, 25 January 2007, at its offices in Horseferry Road, London, when the new system will be explained.

Speakers will include Professor Stephen May, Chairman of the RCVS's Education Policy & Specialisation Committee, and Bradley Viner, Chairman of the sub-committee with responsibility for overseeing the new certificate.

We hope to attract a mixed audience from the various CPD providers, veterinary schools and other universities, as well as representation from the specialist veterinary associations that currently deliver CPD courses.  All organisations that provide training of relevance to veterinary surgeons are welcome to attend. 

Under the new system, the RCVS will accredit universities to assess modules as part of the certificate, but this does not mean that other CPD providers will not have a role to play.

Universities may work with other organisations outside the university system to assist with delivery - for example, through the provision of courses, or by providing specialist expertise to help with assessment. 

The seminar will seek to explore how partners can become involved with the new system in the interest of extending the range of good quality CPD opportunities for veterinary surgeons.
