Proposed rules for new RCVS modular certificates
1 March 2006
We are busy progressing work on the new modular certificates and later this year will be circulating a set of module specifications developed by subject boards, as well as inviting expressions of interest from universities who wish to seek accreditation.
In the meantime, we have prepared a paper outlining the proposed rules for modular certificates to provide some background information on how it sees the system operating. We hope the paper will answer some of the queries that have been raised so far, and help universities to start preparing for their involvement with the new system.
The paper is based on one which was approved recently by the Specialisation and Further Education Committee (SFEC), and describes the policy and proposed rules for the modular certificate. These proposed rules will be formulated into bye-laws to be considered by SFEC and Council in May/June this year.
We would welcome comments on the proposals and would be happy to answer any queries you might have so that we can take these into account as the new system takes shape. The next meeting of the Professional Development sub-committee is on 28 March 2006.
Any further comments you might have on the rules would be welcome by 24 March 2006, although we will be happy to receive comments after this date, up until 10 May 2006. Please send your comments to Freda Andrews, Head of Education, at [email protected].
