RCVS statement - UK's Worst…Pet Shop?
20 February 2003
BBC One - Wednesday 19 February 2003, 8pm
Following BBC One's screening of UK's Worst…Pet Shop? last night, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons would seek to clarify matters regarding the veterinary surgeon shown to be involved with the illegal transportation of a lioness.
During the programme, Diana Carr was the veterinary surgeon heard to say, "We're an expert in cover-up jobs with cats. Nobody knows nothing [sic] from this. It's nothing to do with us because there'll be no paperwork on this for us or anything."
Mrs Carr was struck off the Register of Veterinary Surgeons on 6 February 2003, having been found guilty of disgraceful conduct in a professional respect by the RCVS Disciplinary Committee after a two and a half week hearing in late 2002. The guilty charges involved false certification and harassment and were unrelated to the circumstances shown last night. Mrs Carr is no longer able to practise as a veterinary surgeon in the UK.
