VN Council elections underway
30 March 2007
Voting for the Veterinary Nurses Council election 2007 has opened today and will run for the next four weeks. As in recent years, all listed veterinary nurses may vote online, by telephone or by post.
In 2007, there are three candidates standing for election: one candidate standing for re-election and two who are standing for the first time. Their manifestos and proposers' statements are set out in the election booklets, which have been posted to all listed veterinary nurses this week.
You may cast your vote online or over the phone on 0800 197 4614.
Whilst we hope this will make the voting process as easy as possible, you may still vote by post if you prefer by returning your completed ballot paper in the pre-paid envelope provided. (If you have not received your manifesto booklet and ballot paper, please contact the Veterinary Nursing Department.)
Andrea Jeffery, who chairs the VN Council, said: "As veterinary nurses, the Council plays a vital role in our working lives and the annual election is our chance to vote for the VNs who will best assist the Council in its work.
"During the last 12 months, the Veterinary Nurses Council has handled a number of key issues such as job titles for VNs, the introduction of a non-statutory Register, the role of VNs in maintaining and monitoring anaesthesia and the future of the VN diploma.
"This year will see some of the most significant changes to our profession for several decades. Please don’t miss this chance to have your say on who can best help the VN Council meet the challenges ahead."
All votes, whether electronic or postal, must be received by our independent ballot scrutineers, Electoral Reform Services Ltd, no later than 5pm on Monday, 30 April 2007.
