An inspector called…and delegates were ready!
27 April 2009
Around 65 veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and practice managers attended a joint RCVS / Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) masterclass at BSAVA Congress this year (4 April), entitled: “An inspector calls – are you ready?”.
The objective of the event was to give delegates an overview of the medicines regulations to be adhered to by those premises registered for the purposes of supplying medicines on the new Register of Veterinary Practice Premises.
John FitzGerald, Veterinary Medicines Directorate Operations Director, started proceedings by outlining the purpose of the Register, which enables UK Government to comply with EU legislation.
Then RCVS President and Chairman of the Practice Standards Group, Jill Nute, explained the role of the RCVS in gathering data for the Register, and how those premises accredited under the Practice Standards Scheme did not need to be inspected routinely by the VMD.
Finally, Pam Mosedale, Practice Standards Chief Inspector, gave practical advice to those facing medicines inspections.
