Anaesthesia course clarification
15 December 2011
Widely circulated advertising for the City & Guilds ‘Level 2 Certificate in Assisting Veterinary Surgeons with Anaesthesia and Sedation and Monitoring Animal Patients’ states that this qualification has been approved by the RCVS.
We would like to point out that while we have advised City & Guilds on legal matters in relation to lay assistance with anaesthesia, we have not approved the qualification.
We do not approve any qualification (or continuing professional development provision) other than those that lead to registration as either a veterinary surgeon or veterinary nurse, or to RCVS awards (such as the DipAVN) made under our Royal Charter.
If you have any questions, please contact the Veterinary Nursing Department on 020 7202 0788.
