Council Elections 2006: Giving up voting for Lent?

8 March 2006

Enclosed with the March edition of RCVS News, which was recently sent to all RCVS members, was the ballot paper for the 2006 Council Elections. Members are urged to spare a few minutes to read it and then cast their vote.

There are twelve candidates standing this year, including seven who are not currently on Council. So, to help members compare and contrast, each candidate has been asked to provide some contact details and a short biography, together with the traditional manifesto; the layout has also been improved, to make the information easier to digest.

The deadline for voting is 5pm on Friday 28 April 2006, but with BSAVA Congress and the Easter holidays before that, not to mention the rugby and the cricket, it would be easy to forget if you don't vote today. The profession's future will be shaped by whoever is voted onto Council.

Can you afford to abstain?

Any member who has not received their ballot paper, or who might have misplaced it, should contact Ian Holloway on [email protected] or 020 7202 0727 who will arrange for an official duplicate paper to be sent.
