Final month for RCVS honours and awards nominations

28 July 2008

There is still just over a month to go before the deadline for receipt of nominations for RCVS Honorary Associateships and Honorary Fellowships – two of the highest awards that the RCVS can bestow.

Honorary Associates

Honorary Associates need not be veterinary surgeons. This award may be made to people in recognition of their special eminence in, or special service to, the profession. Council has agreed that the award should be restricted to persons not eligible for election as Honorary Fellows.

The present Honorary Associates are listed on page 338 of the RCVS Register of Members 2007 and this honour was awarded to Mrs Patsy Bloom, Mr David Simpson and Mr Geoff Davies in July this year.

Honorary Fellowship by Election

This award may be made to not more than three persons in any one year in respect of their special eminence in, and service to, the cause of veterinary science. A recipient must be a member of the RCVS and have been a member, or possessed of a registrable qualification, for a period of at least 20 years.

The present Honorary Fellows by Election are listed on page 339 of the RCVS Register of Members 2007 and this honour was awarded to Mr Gary Clayton Jones, Professor Paul Flecknell and Dr Christine Gibbs at this year's RCVS Day.

For details of the full nomination requirements and a nomination form, please contact Gabi Braun in the RCVS Executive Office (020 7202 0761 or [email protected]). The deadline for receipt of nominations is 5 September 2008.
