Final week to vote in RCVS Council elections

26 April 2004

Members of the RCVS have just five more days to cast their vote in the RCVS Council Election 2004.

The deadline by which all votes must be received is 5pm on Friday 30 April, which means they would need to be posted first class to Electoral Reform Services by Thursday 29 April at the latest.

So far, some 2,725 ballot papers have been returned to the independent scrutineers, which represents just 14% of the profession. The final turnout last year was 16%.

In view of the fundamental changes to the profession that are currently being considered by the RCVS, members are urged this year more than ever to take a few minutes to read the eleven candidates' manifestos, and their supporters' statements, and then exercise their right to vote.

There is still time for members who may have misplaced or not received their ballot paper to request a duplicate; please contact Ian Holloway (020 7202 0727) in the External Affairs Department.
