Full house at RCVS careers afternoon

2 August 2004

RCVS held its annual Careers Afternoon recently for school pupils and graduates who are thinking of becoming veterinary surgeons.

All tickets were taken for the afternoon, with over 85 people attending to hear different speakers discussing a variety of veterinary-related subjects .

There was advice on applying to veterinary school and how best to complete the UCAS form, followed by a veterinary student's perspective of the undergraduate degree course.

There were also informative presentations about different veterinary careers including research and pathology, working in general practice and working with zoo animals, as well as veterinary public health and life in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps.

As in previous years, the feedback from those who attended was extremely positive.

Another Careers Afternoon will be held in July 2005; details will be posted on the RCVS website early next year.

If you would like information on how to become a veterinary surgeon, please see the careers page of the RCVS website.
