Get involved - stand for RCVS Council
21 December 2005
Election time will soon be here, so why not stand for nomination to RCVS Council? This is your chance to get involved and help make the decisions which will have an effect on the whole of the profession.
The College is looking for nominations from RCVS members who have a thorough understanding of the profession and are well informed on current developments both within the profession and for the animal-owning public. Active practitioners are particularly encouraged to stand, whose knowledge, experience and views are crucial to RCVS Council decisions.
RCVS President Lynne Hill commented: "If members want the profession to develop in a way that meets the evolving needs of the animal-owning public, as well as those of the profession as a whole, they need to get involved. I do urge every member of the profession - young/old, female/male - seriously to consider standing for election. If you want to affect the future and not just live it, then why not stand for Council this year?"
As one of six newly-elected Council members you could expect to spend a minimum of six days on RCVS business, dependent upon committee membership, for which you will be paid an attendance allowance for loss of earnings.
Nominations close on 31 January 2006, so if you are looking for a fresh challenge, get in touch. For further details about the role of RCVS Council Member and an application pack, please contact Dawn Wiggins on 020 7202 0761.
