Membership retention and PSS annual fees - final reminders

We will shortly send out final reminders for members' unpaid retention fees and outstanding Practice Standard Scheme (PSS) fees.

We will write a final letter to non-paying members and PSS practices and, where we have an email address, send an email, since retention fees and PSS annual fees should have been paid before 1 April.

Non-paying vets are removed from the Register of Veterinary Surgeons and we publicise a list of the names of veterinary surgeons removed due to non-payment through a press release. So, if you are one of the 2,400 vets who have not yet got around to paying your retention fees, please do - we don’t like putting your names on that list.

If you are removed for non-payment you will need to pay a higher fee to be restored to the Register - and if you practise in the meantime you may compromise your indemnity insurance and risk a criminal prosecution.

If PSS annual fees are not paid, practices can lose their PSS accreditation and, if they want to rejoin the Scheme, will need to reapply for accreditation. PSS-accredited practices who have not paid their annual fees need to be aware that, as these fees also include Register of Veterinary Practice Premises fees, non-paying practices will also have their registration of premises affected.

Since 1 April, all veterinary practice premises have required VPPR registration, and it is illegal for anyone to store and supply medicines from veterinary practice premises which are unregistered.
