MMI to speak at congresses in France and Denmark
8 August 2024
This September, our Mind Matters Initiative is going to be attending two international conferences – the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine – Companion Animal (ECVIM-CA) Congress 2024 in Lyon, France, and the Vetnnet (Veterinary European Transnational Network for Nursing Education and Training) Conference 2024 in Kolding, Denmark.
The ECVIM Congress is taking place from Thursday 5 September to Saturday 7 September and is a well-known event on the veterinary internal medicine calendar. On Friday 6 September our Mind Matters Ambassador, Dr Kate Richards FRCVS, will be presenting two sessions. The first will focus on ‘Communicating effectively and compassionately with clients in challenging situations’, and the second on ‘Navigating moral stress and moral injury’.
The Vetnnet Conference is taking place on Thursday 19 September and Friday 20 September. Vetnnet is a European network for everyone involved in veterinary nurse training. Here, on Friday 20 September, MMI will be hosting a session on incivility which will be presented by expert Helen Silver-MacMahon RVN.
Our MMI Lead, Rapinder Newton, said: “MMI was the first programme of its kind within the global regulatory veterinary sphere to recognise the importance of protecting the mental health of veterinary professionals and we are proud to have led the way as a compassionate regulator.

“We are looking forward to speaking at both ECVIM Congress and Vetnnet Conference this September on topics of great interest, bringing awareness to the kind of work that MMI does to support the mental health of those working within the UK veterinary professions, as well as sharing some of our resource so that more veterinary professionals can benefit.
“Both Kate and Helen are fantastic speakers, and we would like to thank them for representing MMI and sharing their knowledge with veterinary professionals on an international scale.”
