Pre-2012 graduates advised to complete their PDP
30 June 2014
We are asking that all veterinary surgeons who graduated before 2012 and have yet to complete the Professional Development Phase (PDP) do so before the end of September.
The PDP is a self-assessment system that provides a structure for new graduates, allowing them to reflect on how their confidence and competence is developing across a number of clinical areas. Generally, it is expected that the PDP should be completed after one year in practice.
On 30 September we will be discontinuing the old PDP website following the introduction of the PDP section of the Professional Development Record in 2012 (pictured above) – an improved way of recording practical and clinical experience for new graduates.
Already we have sent three reminder letters to pre-2012 graduates who have yet to complete the PDP.
Veterinary surgeons who haven’t completed the PDP and feel that they will not be able to do so before the end of September should apply to have their records transferred to the Professional Development Record.
Any graduates who fail to complete the PDP or apply to have their records transferred will need to register with the Professional Development Record and then manually re-enter all of their records.
You can still visit the old PDP website. Alternatively, you can register for the Professional Development Record.
For further details and for applications to transfer records please contact Stephanie Platt, PDP Education Officer, on [email protected] or 020 7202 0736.
