RCVS Council Election results 2005
3 May 2005
The results of the RCVS Council Elections 2005 have been announced today, following a rise in voting turnout on last year. Success for the following six candidates, comprising two new candidates (Peter Jinman and Bradley Viner) and four existing members, will see them formally take their place on Council at RCVS Day on 8 July 2005.

In total, 3,591 ballot papers were returned this year, representing an overall turnout of 18%. This compares somewhat more favourably with the 2,700 returns in last year's elections (15%) and is the highest turnout for five years.
For the first time this year, the independent ballot admininistrators who ran the election, Electoral Reform Services, have collated demographic data on voters, which they will anonymise and pass to the RCVS for analysis. It is hoped that this will provide useful information on the profiles of members who vote, in order to target future promotional campaigns more effectively.
