RCVS President Melissa Donald (pictured) is congratulating two UK veterinary surgeons who have achieved medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Athlete Dr Laura Muir MRCVS won gold for Team Scotland at the women’s 1500 metres final and bronze at the women’s 800 metres final, while cyclist Dr Neah Evans MRCVS won silver for Scotland in the women’s 25km point race final, silver in the women’s road race and bronze in the women’s 3000m individual pursuit final.
Melissa said: “Massive congratulations to both Laura and Neah on their colossal achievements. In my opening speech as RCVS President last month I spoke about our ‘small, but mighty profession’ and I think both of these women are testament to the sheer breadth of talent in the UK veterinary professions.
“Being a keen – but maybe a little bit slower – runner and cyclist myself made their successes all the more pertinent to me. I hope to see both of these fantastic veterinary sportswomen competing at Paris 2024!”
