RCVS to promote the RCVS Academy and VN Futures Initiative at BVNA Congress 2022

30 September 2022

The RCVS will be promoting the RCVS Academy and VN Futures Initiative at the upcoming British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) Congress, taking place Friday 7 to Sunday 9 October 2022 at Telford International Centre.

Amongst information on other RCVS projects being shared on the RCVS stand, delegates will be able to view a new veterinary nursing history video created to celebrate the Veterinary Nursing Diamond Jubilee. The video, which was first released at the Veterinary Nursing Diamond Jubilee Celebration event at the Oxford University of Natural History Museum back in August, gives an overview of the profession’s history from 1961 to the present day.

The VN Futures Initiative, a joint RCVS and BVNA Initiative, will also be hosting two fringe events where delegates can take part in group discussions and hear updates on the initiative. These will be taking place in the Newport 1 room at the following times:

  • Friday 7 October, 11:45 – 12:45: The role of the RVN in One Health
  • Saturday 8 October, 11:15 – 12:15: Support the newly qualified RVN

The RCVS Academy, which has recently published a new course to enhance training for student vet nurse clinical supervisors, will also be sharing information about its free digital learning platform and training courses through providing live demonstrations of the site. The clinical supervisor course, which was launched on 6 September 2022, will enhance the ability of vet nurses and vets to guide student veterinary nurses in developing the professional behaviours and Day One Skills they need to join the Register.

In addition to this, the RCVS will also be hosting an on-stand competition relating to different forms of continuing professional development (CPD), giving delegates the chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Tab A.
