RCVS Trust librarian retires
29 June 2010
Pam Greening, senior assistant librarian at the RCVS Trust, retired last month following over 25 years’ work at the Trust.
A librarian for her entire working life, Pam (pictured) first came to work at the Trust in 1974, leaving after two years before returning in 1985.
“I will miss the people,” says Pam. “They are the best thing about the job, both my colleagues and the many vets and veterinary nurses I have come into contact with. Having worked in several libraries, I do think vets are some of the nicest people I’ve ever worked with.”
As librarian, Pam helped with an enormous variety of research enquiries, on topics ranging from elephant health to vasectomising ferrets. She even had the odd brush with celebrity, when film-vet Peter Scott asked for her help – he was attending the set of 101 Dalmatians.
Not that a librarian’s lot is usually glitz and glamour: “The worst task I ever had was spending a week in the basement sorting out the archives,” says Pam.
Cherry Bushell, Director of the RCVS Trust, says: “Pam has given the library sterling service over 25 years and we will miss her calm presence and warm personality. We hope she enjoys every minute of a well-earned retirement.”
